The new Netflix series King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch has been a collector’s paradise. The show featured Ken buying and selling some rare collectibles, including an original Apple I computer and Jackie Robinson’s Dodgers jersey, with Dave Amerman often at his side to help him through the process.
According to Ken, Dave was “Goldins Rock” because he managed everything within the company. But according to Dave, he was just imitating “what Ken would do”, and he meant “like Ken”.
King of Collectibles hit the top 10 on Netflix in just 48 hours since it premiered on April 28, 2023. But Dave wasn’t at all surprised that the show had garnered such a huge following. “I started this TV journey a long time ago, but when I became a part of the cast, I worked with 🤴 @kengoldin and included him, you know it will be a success,” he wrote on IG on March 21.

A lifelong collector of sports and historical memorabilia, Dave began his career by founding Modern Marvels Auctions in January 2007. However, he left auctions three years later to work as an engineer at Langley and Taylor. Four years later, he returned as auctioneer to Steiner Sports, where he managed the High-End American and Sports Collectibles Auction. There he also fathered the New York Yankees and sold collections by Yogi Berra, Don Larsen, Mark Messier, Bobby Knight and many others.

In total, Dave has over 25 years of experience in the industry. “With a personal interest in almost all areas of collecting, from game items to trading cards and having worked at an autograph company, Dave possesses a firm grasp of many aspects of the hobby,” reads Goldin’s biography of him.
Regarding his education, Dave attended Ramapo High School and later earned a BA and MA in English Literature (British and Commonwealth) from Montclair State University.

Dave Amerman comes from a family of five.
His parents, Linda and Art Amerman, are designers. Linda was a member of the Wyckoff Design Review Board. “We keep the beauty of Wyckoff by reviewing the plans before they go to the Planning Board,” Linda said. As for Art, he graduated from William Paterson College, owned A & A Signs and worked as a Fleet Imagine coordinator at New Tour Waterway Ferry. “I mainly design everything you see on and off their buses and shuttles,” he said.

As for his siblings, Dave has two brothers named Bert and Chip Amerman. Although we don’t know much about Bert, Chip worked at CBRE as a commercial real estate agent. In 2023 he was living in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, with his wife and his two children.
Sadly, Dave’s maternal grandparents, Antonia and Albert Kopeinig, passed away on July 9, 2019 and January 4, 2018, respectively.
