Giulia Semenzato and Riccardo Fassi, who play Figaro and are a talented comedian, are likable as Susanna and Figaro.

Hanna Hipp, one of the few non-Italians, portrays Cherubino in a wonderfully silly way. The musical performance was excellent thanks to musical director Antonio Pappano, who extracted the drama and character in every word. Who could resist Lombardi and Semenzato’s brilliant vocals in a Slovak duet? The return of the live opera is such a thrill.

Lise Davidsen will arrive in London relieved to learn that her short European tour has gone almost exactly as planned. The Barbican artist to be noticed this season is Norwegian soprano Davidsen, who won the 2015 Operalia competition and shocked the world with her performance. Her series of short performances and workshops began with this recital with fellow pianist Leif Ove Andsnes.

Grieg from their last album takes up the entire opening. The performances capture the Haugtussa’s original rhythm well, Grieg’s only song cycle, although Davidsen’s superb soprano enjoys a much louder volume than the song repertoire requires, which is supported. supported by Andsnes’ water-clear padding.
