“Don’t. Don’t.” That’s the message Florida police officers have for people thinking about leaving their pets in hot cars.
Their warning comes directly after they rescued a very young puppy that was left in a hot car in Pensacola, Florida. When the temperature spiked to 91 degrees, officers broke the car windows to free the dog.
Police charged the dog’s owner, but returned the dog to them due to its age.
Escambia County spokeswoman Joy Tsubooka told Channel 3 News: “She’s still with her mother and we decided it was best for her to stay with her mother.”
Pensacola police posted a scathing message on Facebook and warned that such negligence could land them in jail.
“If you leave your dog in a hot car and the dog is in pain, we will do whatever it takes to free it. Or her. It doesn’t matter, we love both types of dogs,” they wrote.
