Noah Thompson’s house was always filled with music. His father, Chris Thompson, was probably the biggest influence on his career as a musician, and his mother, Elizabeth Miller, also loved to listen to music. It is likely that his parents met through music in the first place, since Elizabeth was previously married to a genius musician.
“That’s what I grew up hearing. I’m more country, but I’m still trying to find my way,” Noah said in the interview.
The 20-year-old construction worker from Louisa, Kentucky was among the three finalists along with HunterGirl and Leah Marlene. He told USA Today: “Honestly, man, he was a little numb.”
He continued: “I was blown away. I just didn’t know how to feel. Anyone could win this show, you know what I mean? I just didn’t think it was me.” She has a one-year-old son, Walker, who had never flown in an airplane before the audition.
“My friend pushed me to enter this competition, but I’m grateful for it,” he told USA Today. “I just didn’t expect this result at all. After the Top 3 it really hit me.” Reflecting on the moment of his audition, he said, “I can promise you that no one walks into the audition room more nervous. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I couldn’t even look at the judges.”
This famous win for the Louisa-based singer made the entire state of Kentucky proud.

Chris Thompson and his wife Elizabeth Miller separated long before she passed away on May 6, 2018. Elizabeth was 50 years old at the time of her death. After Elizabeth, Chris married his now wife, Amy Thompson. They got married in 2008. They met three years before the wedding.
On their wedding anniversary in 2017, Amy posted on her Facebook: “9 years ago today I married my best friend… We watched each other grow and encouraged each other to be better versions of ourselves. To say that everything was easy would be a lie. Because when you share everything, you also share bad moments! I like to think that our bad moments always ended up being good because we use them to learn and grow. I love the family we share. I love the life we decided to share. I love you Christopher Mark Thompson!”
Amy is a native of Blaine, Kentucky. She attended Lawrence County High School and then Prestonsburg Community College.
Chris and Amy have a son together named Gibson Thompson, who should be around 16 in 2022.
On the other hand, Elizabeth was previously married to her late husband Scott Ambrose. Together they had two daughters; Brittany Miller Dawson and Alexandria Kyle Ambrose.
Scott was considered a musical genius. He was passionate about the guitar and loved the unusual rhythms and unreal technical skill of progressive rock in the vein of Rush and Yes, along with the bluegrass/jazz/funk style of bands like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
Furthermore, Scott was a master of the classical guitar and could pick up a Fernando Sor piece or translate something from Back onto the fingerboard with as much ease and beauty as he could string an Alex Lifeson riff. Scott died of a blood clot in his lungs just after his 32nd birthday.
At the time of her death, Elizabeth was in a relationship with her boyfriend, known only as Tony.
