What happened to Ron Ross?
Ron Ross was fired from Sirius XM in March 2023 after 16 years with the company.
Disheartened, the radio host wrote on his Twitter account on March 7: “Well, I’ve survived a meltdown, a heart attack and a global pandemic, but after almost 16 years, it’s over. I got fired from @SiriusXM yesterday due to their purge. No more #RonRossMorningShow. Thank you, thank you, thank you for receiving me in your mornings. We had a bit of fun, didn’t we?
This obviously upset many of the regulars.
“@SIRIUSXM So sad they canceled Ron Ross on Pulse. He was a great DJ and a joy to listen to on the morning commute. My motivation to continue my SiriusXM subscription has dropped to 0. Unfortunately greed is killing this company and I don’t want to be a part of it,” wrote one fan.
While another added: “So sad to see this! My morning commute was not the same. Good luck.”
But in defense of Sirius XM, they announced that they would lay off about 475 people, or about 8% of their total workforce. The layoffs came as advertising dollars began to dry up in response to economic uncertainty.

Speaking from his experience, Ron worked at Sirius XM for nearly 16 years until he was laid off in March 2023. He initially joined the show hosting a daily national broadcast/satellite radio morning show featuring lifestyle stories, interactive games for listeners , celebrity interviews and news every hour. Then in 2011 he was promoted to program director responsible for all aspects of the 90s on 9 channels. There, he coordinated playlists, wrote visuals, conceived and implemented special programming features, created original content like the Back in the Day Replay Countdown show, and managed staff.
Prior to joining Sirius XM, Ron served as morning show producer at iHeartRadio from April 2001 to November 2006. There he supported all aspects of the daily award-winning live morning show in a major market, including writing of comedies, communications with guests, and coordinating the personal performances of the specialists in the morning program. He also compiled, wrote and delivered hourly news.

Regarding his education, Ross graduated from St. Joseph’s and studied radio, television and film at the University of Maryland from August 1982 to May 1987.
