It appears that elated parents watched the final from the Wānaka fan zone with the families of several other Olympians.
But this was not the first time, Nico’s parents had seen him succeed. They were also present when Nico received his Red Bull helmet, as the youngest athlete in Red Bull’s portfolio in New Zealand, in 2016.
“Ever since I saw someone with that iconic blue and silver on their helmet, I thought, I want to be that person. It’s a big problem,” Nico said at the time.
