Until she entered Homewood High School, she continued to produce movies with her mother throughout her childhood to avoid writing assignments for her teachers. Peter Hastings, a friend of Paul’s, would be assigned to write an article on a particular social science topic, and Paul would offer to proofread it.
“I started working with him, then I saw ‘The Matrix’ and [it] it just blew me away,” Rogers said. “And I’ve never been so obsessed with a movie before. After seeing ‘The Matrix’, I watched ‘Memento’, Christopher Nolan’s second film. That movie made me realize how amazing editing was.”
Paul enrolled in the Santa Fe College film program with the intention of making films as a career. There he was exposed to a number of different artistic mediums and had the opportunity to direct, act and edit.
Eventually, Paul moved to Los Angeles to continue making movies, where he did a brief stint on “The Eric Andre Show.” In Los Angeles, Rogers met Dan Kwan and Dan Scheinert, a directing duo known as “the Daniels”, known primarily for their work in music videos.
On the Los Angeles track, Paul met Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert; they clicked (in part because Scheinert is also from Birmingham, Alabama), and Rogers was asked to help them with a music video camp. Start of work with [Yeoh] It was a dream come true and it still amazes me every time I see it.”
