Comedian and writer Barry Cryer married his wife Theresa Margaret ‘Terry’ Donovan in 1962 in Bristol, England. They lived together at Hatch End, a house in Middlesex, which they bought together in 1967 for £10,400. They remained married until Barry’s death at the age of 86 on January 25, 2022. Thus, until his death, they lived happily in a marriage that lasted 60 years.
Barry reportedly met his wife Theresa while rehearsing for Danny La Rue’s concert at Winston’s Night Club on the same day he met Ronnie Corbett. He then he “tossed a coin and decided to marry her.”
According to Reader’s Digest, Barry once said: “It was at a rehearsal at Danny La Rue’s nightclub, not far from the Windmill. She was a singer and a dancer and I loved it when I first saw her standing by the piano.”

Barry once talked about his relationship with MailOnline. “The key is that we never understood each other; We don’t row but we fight all the time. I once told her, ‘We don’t agree on everything,’ and she said, ‘No, we don’t!'”
Barry claimed that the marriage cured his eczema. Before Terry, he was hospitalized 12 times in eight years. He revealed: “When Terry met me, he had dark glasses and a coat buttoned up to his chin. She thought, oh my! Who is she? It looks a bit weird. But I was only in the hospital one more time after meeting her. It’s not a coincidence, I think.”
