Comedian and actor Rizwan Maji has been married to his wife for decades. The couple exchanged wedding vows on June 12, 2002.
In June 2019, Rizwan gave insight into their marriage and relationship. She wrote in the post: “Okay, on June 11, 2002, the day before traveling the world for a year, Tas and I decided to go to the Queens courthouse and get married! Anyway, we had a lot to do because we were leaving the next day and we ran to the court just as it was closing!
He added: “They told us that we couldn’t get married today and that we had to come back tomorrow. We had a flight the next day and thought it would be safer to get married since we were traveling the world together on a one-way ticket to Bangkok. We decided that we would try to get up early and come the next day and hope that we could fly. We have arrived at the court! I think Tasa’s brother and dad were there, it’s been a while, but I think her mom was out of town. We didn’t even have rings.”
Rizwan further added, “I’m pretty sure the entire staff thought we were getting married because of my green card! The wedding ceremony lasted about 20 seconds. We take pictures in front of some altar or something and then rush to the airport! I distinctly remember Shania Twain’s song “You’re Still The One” playing on the radio, with the lyrics “Looks like we made it!” while we were going to the airport. We ended up playing that song at what we call our royal wedding on August 8.”
The actor concluded the post: “Happy wedding anniversary at Tas Court! Looks like we made it, look how far we’ve come baby! Well, I don’t know how it worked out, but 17 years isn’t bad.”
In August 2021, on his 17th birthday, Rizwan took to his IG and wrote: “17 years today! Who would have guessed that? He would say something sentimental but @taslimmanji would hate it. I’m trying not to get into arguments today.”
The married couple are the parents of three children in a decades-long marriage. Their eldest daughter, Ayana, turned 13 on December 29, 2021. She was followed by her son Aariq, who turned 11 on April 1, 2022. Finally, the youngest of the children, Ayla, celebrated her ninth birthday on April 17. September 2022.
