How to delete a page in Google Docs

There are several reasons why you might want to delete a page in Google Docs. You can choose to remove all content from a particular page, you can have a blank page in the middle, or you can have a long blank page at the bottom of your document.

Here, we’ll show you how to delete a page in Google Docs for each of these situations.

All selected text on a page in Google Docs.

Delete a content page

If you have a page full of content, be it text, images, or both, you can easily delete it.

Step 1 – Select all the content on the page. You can do this by dragging your cursor across all of them, marking it.

Step 2: Press Recoil on windows or Delete on Mac to remove content.

Step 3 – If you are left with a blank page after deleting the content, press Recoil either Delete while the cursor is at the top of the page. This should take you to the previous page.

Delete a blank page

You may have a blank page in the middle of your document. This can happen if you insert a page break or if you previously removed some content.

Step 1: Go to the page that follows the blank page.

Step 2: Place the cursor at the beginning of the text on the next page, before the first word.

Step 3: Press Recoil either Delete on your keyboard.

This should move the text from the next page to the blank page, thus removing the blank page.

(Note: you may need to press Recoil either Delete repeatedly to move the entire page of text to a blank page).

Remove blank page at the end

As you create your document, adding and adjusting text and spacing, you may see a blank page at the end of the document.

One way to remove a blank page is to place your cursor at the end of it and keep pressing Recoil either Delete until you reach the previous page.

If that doesn’t work, you may need to adjust the spacing. You may have too much space at the end of a paragraph on the previous page, creating a new page.

Step 1: Go to Format > spacing and spacing in the menu and select custom spacing in the popup menu.

Step 2 – Adjust the number below Space between paragraphs for After. If this number is above zero, it may be to blame.

Step 3: After adjusting the spacing, select apply and you should see your blank page disappear.

Double check the bottom margin

Another thing to check that could cause a blank page is the bottom margin. If this margin is set too high, it can also cause a blank page at the end of the document.

Step 1: Go to Archive and choose page setup.

Step 2: In the pop-up box, check the measurement to Below margin. Usually this is set to 1 inch by default.

Step 3: You can change Below measure to a smaller number and select Alright.

This can also remove a blank page at the end of your document. But keep in mind that this may affect the appearance of the remaining pages.
