However, Ricky Martin denies the accusations. The news broke two weeks ago. The Latin pop icon was the subject of a restraining order “related to domestic violence” issued by a judge in Puerto Rico. So far the identity of the accused victim is unknown. However, Martin’s brother, Eric Martin, reportedly claimed that the victim was Dennis Yadiel Sánchez, the singer’s 21-year-old nephew, reports the Spanish newspaper Marca.
The protection order was signed July 1 after authorities tried to treat Martin in his neighborhood in the north coast city of Dorado, police spokesman Axel Valencia previously told The Associated Press.
If the horrifying accusations are true, Martin could go to prison for five decades under Puerto Rico’s “incest charges” law. According to the publication, the complaint was filed anonymously under Law 54, commonly known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Law. The order announced that Martín and his nephew, who filed the lawsuit, had been dating for seven months, according to El Vocer, a Puerto Rican newspaper.
According to the report, the alleged victim affirmed that Martín did not take his break up well and that he wandered near the petitioner’s house on at least three occasions.
His lawyer also added: “The idea is not only false, it is disgusting. We all hope this man gets the help he urgently needs. But above all, we hope that this terrible case will be dismissed as soon as the judge begins to examine the facts.”
In early July 2022, Martin’s manager, Rebecca Drucker, also sued him for $3 million in unpaid commissions.
A representative for Martin told The Post at the time: “The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to the protection order are completely false and fabricated. We are very confident that when the truth of the facts comes to light in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
His brother Eric, a bodybuilder, also addressed the allegations against his brother.
On the other hand, Dennis fears for his life. The Spokesman cited the protection order. The order prohibits Ricky from contacting or calling his niece.
Ricky also took to Twitter to deny all the allegations. He wrote: “The protection measure that was issued against me is based on completely false accusations, for which I will respond in the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterizes me.”
He concluded: “As this is an ongoing legal matter, I am unable to make detailed statements at this time. I appreciate the innumerable messages of solidarity and I receive them with all my heart”.
