Michael Gregory Rowe was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 18, 1962. His parents, John and Peggy Rowe, were also teachers. He was the eldest of his parents’ three children; He has two younger brothers, Scott and Phil.
He was educated at Overlea High School. While there, he became interested in theater and singing, and excelled under the direction of choir conductor Freddie King. He later attributed his passion for performing to King.
