How to darken the always-on screen and remove the background
The first of these new options allows you to completely hide the background when the screen goes to sleep. The result will be a flat black background that displays nothing more than a dimmed version of the clock and any other widgets you’ve added to your lock screen.
Please note that this is not necessarily a black and white representation. Although the default clock color is white, you can change it by customizing the lock screen; the clock will appear in the color you’ve chosen for your current lock screen, and darker colors will automatically lighten to appear on a black background.

How to hide notifications on the always-on screen
If you want a truly minimalist always-on display, turning off the background is only half the battle. You will also need to disable notifications. If not, your screen will still light up and show the background whenever a new notification arrives.
Step 1: Open settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Choose screen and brightness.
Step 3 – Scroll down and select always on screen.
Step 4 – Select the switch next to show notifications to turn it off.
The options to disable the always-on wallpaper and notifications on the iPhone 14 Pro are not related to each other in any way, so you can choose to use one or both, depending on your personal preference. Disabling both the wallpaper and notifications will give you an always-on display that shows nothing but the time and whatever widget you choose to put on it, and it won’t turn itself on unless you tap it or pick up your iPhone. On the other hand, you may want to leave the wallpaper on for a better look, but leave notifications off to keep your always-on screen quiet and distraction-free.
Of course, you can still turn off Always-On Display entirely, in which case your iPhone 14 Pro will work like any other iPhone model, going completely dark when the screen is off.
