Netflix’s Summer Job rounded up a group of slackers, including Matthias De Dona, “used to doing nothing all day,” and lured them into a “paid” luxury vacation in Mexico. This obviously didn’t sit well with everyone, as they talked about “betrayal” and also made fans doubt the authenticity of the show. After all, why wouldn’t the owner immediately fire a competitor on day one after displaying a massive level of incompetence?
But according to Netflix, the series is unscripted. This means that the producers were not allowed to interrupt the narration at any time. At least that’s the rule. In addition, this type of show does not follow a certain script and does not repeat any pre-recorded or previously rehearsed scenes. It’s just bulky.
Also, look at the contestants, it’s pretty obvious that they’re all shocked by the fact that they have to work to earn a place in the house. Only a few obeyed the rules and resigned themselves to fate, while everyone talked about “betrayal”. Some even went so far as to claim that they would never have agreed to be on the show if they had known the truth.
If this doesn’t sound right to you, also keep in mind that all of the jobs featured on the show were actual businesses in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. This means that the contestants were authentic in their interpersonal interactions.

Now I know that I am hurting a person anyway. “I feel like an ugly person on the inside,” she said.
On the plus side, Sofia Carollo showed real development after that as she learned to deal with commitment and responsibility and won the €100,000 prize money. This camera student, who was sent home early from her job at a beauty salon on her first day, seems to have taken failure seriously and worked hard to prove herself.
