The new Netflix documentary Our Father premiered on May 11, 2022, and Susie’s husband, Dr. Donald Cline (played by actor Keith Boyle), came up with a hard-to-believe story. In short, Dr. Donald appears to have gotten away with illegally paternizing over 94 children until a woman named Jacoba Ballard shed light on the whole story in 2014.
So why did Susie’s husband use his own sperm? Well, although he insisted that his actions had no sexual connotations, many believed that they did not, and he also had some kind of religious reason for creating many blond, blue-eyed children.
Due to this action, Susie’s husband ended up losing his license. He faced a year of probation and paid a $500 fine. Surprisingly, he did not serve a prison term.
Reports said that the judge knew Dr. Donald and was incredibly understanding of him.
Furthermore, according to the director of the Our Father, Dr. Donald did “everything in his power to silence them and the making of this film.” However, one of his sons, Jacob, intended to present the truth to the world.
Initially, Jacoba (whose mother was treated by Dr. Donald in 1979) decided to investigate her origins and discovered that she was conceived through a sperm donor. So she logged on to a genomics and biotechnology website and discovered to her surprise that she had at least seven half-siblings. Things took off from there.
So, in 2015, Jacoba and one of her half-sisters, Kristie, filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General’s (AG) office and two letters were sent to Dr. Donald asking for clarification. But at the time, Dr. Donald claimed that he had used a sperm donor three times and had never used his own samples.
Where is Susie Cline today?
Today, Susie Cline leads a private life in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the incident broke, she kept relatively quiet, avoiding interviews with the media and also refusing to believe that her husband was wrong.
However, in a rare interview in 2019, Dr. Donald admitted that “dug up his past was destroying his marriage,” with Susie calling his actions adultery.
But we have no idea if the husband/wife is together today or not.
In Susie’s defense, she was unaware of her husband’s actions. And when the matter finally came to light, Susie mentioned that it was “old news.” Likewise, when referring to Jacoba Ballard because of her husband’s legal problems, she said, “only that a woman is upset because she has a life.”

Susie and Dr. Donald have two children, a son, Doug, and a daughter, Donna, who worked as a nurse at her father’s clinic. It was also Doug who originally set up a meeting between Doug and some of his children in 2019.
Their son Douglas W Cline was born on October 19, 1969 in Zionsville, Indiana. He attended Zionsville Community High School and later studied at the University of Miami and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
As of 2022, Douglas lived in Carmel, Indiana, where he practiced law as a member of the Indiana Bar Association.
Additionally, Doug is the father of two beautiful daughters: Clara and Emma Cline. His daughter Clare studied at the University of Georgia, while Emma studied “Communication Sciences and Disorders: Speech-Language Pathology” at the University of Cincinnati.
Emma became engaged to Guerin Catholic in March 2021. She was also a receptionist at Dreyer & Reinbold INFINITI from 2014 to 2016.
