Gun controllers are experiencing a bit of a renaissance these days thanks to VR gaming, where gamers seek out weapon skins to make their VR shooter encounters a bit more authentic. However, there are also plenty of gun controllers out there that can support more traditional PC gaming, especially if you have a Wii remote handy.

Esimen VR Gun Case for Oculus Quest 2
These clever twin guns are designed specifically for the Oculus Quest 2 – Quest 2 controllers are required and fit into the controllers to give them their capabilities (and a little extra weight helps with realism). The three-piece design uses a basic friction lock to attach or remove Oculus controllers and keep them locked during gameplay. Gamers have full button access, and the finger grooves on the grips help a bit with positioning and comfort. These weapons also come in black!
Of course, being designed specifically for the Oculus Quest 2 means they don’t sit well with other brands of VR headsets, so we don’t recommend buying them unless you own an Oculus model.

The secret to the Wii controller is that you can quickly configure it to act like a computer pointer, allowing it to work for a wide variety of FPS games. The next step is to get a pistol frame for the controller, and this is one of the best, a set of two durable pistol-style frames that still allow access to all the important buttons. The design is ergonomic and nicely detailed, and it includes a remote lock to keep the Wiimote in place while people play.
Of course, the downside is that you really need it. have Wii Remote, preferably MotionPlus, so that all the settings work. We’ll also point out that many computers have a hard time automatically recognizing the Wiimote as a mouse replacement, so you may need to go through a short Bluetooth pairing process each time you use it. But if you already have a Wii or don’t mind buying a used controller, this is a very cost-effective option for you!
Ostent Zapper Gun for Wii
The one-handed design is fine for handling pistols, but if you have a larger firearm in mind, it’s not the experience you want. Enter the Zapper, which is basically the same idea but with a two-handed design that’s much better suited for gunplay and allows you to mix and match the use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers at the same time if you’d like (PCs can confused by this setup, but then again, people have developed workarounds if you don’t mind getting a little more involved.)

Speaking of controllers that more closely mimic the actions of rifles, here’s a version designed specifically for handling rifles in VR setups, and it’s certainly no slouch. The carbon fiber design is extremely durable and lightweight, and uses magnets to help lock the Oculus Rift S/Quest/other compatible controllers in place and keep them secure. It also comes with a nylon sling that doubles as a two-point sling for easy handling, which also means you don’t have to lower the frame of the rifle while you’re busy handling other details.
Hyperkin Hyper Blaster for HTC Vive
If you’ve got an HTC headset, you don’t have to feel left out: this simple gun case is a durable model designed to work with HRC Vive Tracker, even providing tactile feedback for efficient gameplay. While this is a great setup for older Vive models, you may be wondering how it works with the Vive Cosmos. Fortunately, while the Cosmos models use an inside-out tracking system, Hyper Blaster also supports SteamVr tracking and should support older forms of the game when set up correctly.

Maybe you’re not interested in virtual reality or don’t have easy access to something like a Wiimote, but you still have options! This gun frame is designed to work with mobile gaming, but as long as you have Bluetooth and a monitor, it should also fit perfectly on your PC… and can work as a full controller! It includes a shutter button, a built-in joystick, four action buttons, a slider mechanism for the reload function (you’ll have to remap the buttons to set this up, but that’s part of the fun), and vibration feedback. There’s a joystick side attachment that makes it a pistol/controller hybrid, but it’s not necessary if you’d rather not connect it. We also like the softer grips and squishy materials which are good for long gaming sessions when you’re in the zone.
AimTrak Light Rifle
If you have ambitious plans, this AimTrack Light Gun might be more for you. It comes with an infrared sensor strip and can fully mimic a USB mouse or game controller depending on your activities. It’s a good option if you want a traditional arcade experience and aren’t afraid to reposition and calibrate until everything works out.
There are two factors to consider here: First, the gun uses USB 2.0, which is now a bit outdated, and not all computers will have USB 2.0 ports. USB-A is generally backwards compatible, but for something like USB-C you’ll need an adapter, which will affect performance. Second, the IR sensor strip that came with the model can be replaced with other IR sensor strips if you are looking for a sensor that works differently but still want to use the gun.
