a new season love after lockdown premiered on December 16, 2022, and one of the four couples that immediately caught the attention of viewers was Monique Robinson and her reclusive boyfriend, Derek. Monique met Derek through a prison Facebook group. After seeing Derek’s photo, Monique couldn’t help but send him a text.
In a clip, Monique explained: “One night, it was late, I couldn’t sleep, so I was browsing Facebook, clicking on things, and somehow I came across a group from the prison.”
Derek also fell for Monique after they started communicating and wanted to be serious. And after two years they are together. But his family disagrees. Even Monique’s friends are unhappy with her romantic life and her relationship with Derek.
But the trick for this couple is that they haven’t met in person. Monique worries that her dynamics will change once Derek is released from prison. Derek is a fitness enthusiast and Monique lied about having the same interest as him. So she worries about her response after the first meeting.
But Monique credits Derek for her decision to have weight loss surgery.
She also admitted to her friends that she is worried about what Derek will think of her when he is released from prison in a few days and sees her face to face for the first time. Monique explained to her friends: “I’m nervous. He goes through my head, like what if, you know, I’m not what he imagined, or what if he [doesn’t] like me? I’m trying to think positive, but it’s hard when you’re so negative.”
Viewers who watched the episodes of the new season did not hesitate for a second to declare that Monique attacked Derek. Soon, Monique took to her IG as well to comment on the catfish claims. She wrote: “I am done with you playing me long enough on the internet. I hate how Love After Lockup tries to push this story forward like it’s hunting a man in prison. I use filters on photos like any other woman. Also, I gave you tons of photos to choose from when you did my intro and you didn’t use ONE full body photo.”

Are they still together? Only time will tell what Derek’s reaction will be even though Monique seems like the right person.
More about Monique, she was once a mother. However, her daughter Maliah Char’Leigh Robinson passed away on January 27, 2017, just three days after her birth. She posted several posts about her daughter on her Instagram and shared the grief she feels over the loss of her daughter.
