Will Smith and Chris Rock were close friends until something came between them that ended their friendship.
During the 2022 Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock onstage for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett.
The entire world was outraged at Will Smith, while Chris Rock was praised for not fighting back and instead just stood there smiling on his face.
As a result, Will Smith was banned from attending the Academy Awards and other Academy events for the next ten years.
Jada Pinkett was not banned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Pinkett Smith spoke directly to the camera during her episode of “Red Table Talk,” saying that she wants Will Smith and Chris Rock to meet up and talk about what happened at the Oscars.
“About Oscar night. My deepest hope is that these two intelligent and capable people have the chance to heal, talk and reconcile.” Jada said.
The 50-year-old mother of two continued her statement by saying: “With the state of the world today, we need both of you and, in fact, we all need each other more than ever.”
