Getting tagged on TikTok by strangers? Here’s how to untag yourself

TikTok, like any social platform, is no stranger to spam and bots. Lately, the app has been plagued with usage reports flagged by unknown people on TikTok.

Apparently many TikTok users get tagged by strangers in random videos. The issue was raised by several people on Twitter. One Twitter user reported that they were tagged by 15 different people overnight, all of whom posted the same thing. Another person reported being tagged in nine videos even after privacy settings were changed.

Tiktok seems to be the next sm app to be exploited by bots. I was tagged by 15 different people "accounts" overnight, everyone posted the same thing. 🤦 I enjoyed tiktok.

In all reports, people appear to be tagged in the same video of a person dancing in a dress. Spam accounts tagging TikTok users are different, but always in the same dance video. Unsurprisingly, this is a problem that most of the TikTok user base is looking for a solution for.

While we wait for TikTok to remove these tagging bots from the app, the best thing you can do is take a few steps to prevent tagging in the future and uncheck yourself if one of the bots has attacked you.

The first step is to limit who can tag you on TikTok. Open TikTok and go to your profile page. Click on settings card, select it Privacyand search Mentions and tags option in the Security section. Here you can choose from four audience options: Everyone, Followers, Friends, and Nobody. After selecting the desired option, the number of unwanted TikTok tags should decrease significantly.

If a stranger tags you on TikTok, you have the option to unsubscribe from the video. Open TikTok and tap on the Inbox icon. Gonna All the activities to find your likes, comments, Q&A, mentions, tags, followers, etc. Choose Mentions and tags, find the spam video you’re tagged in, and select your notification. While the video is open, select the bookmarks icon next to the username, select uncheckand ready

At the time of the announcement, it was unclear how many people were affected by being tagged by strangers on TikTok and when the bots would be gone for good. In the meantime, here are the best steps you can take to try to minimize any impact on yourself.
