Glenn Brian Judd is the younger brother of Naomi Judd. He was the second son of his parents, Charles Judd and Pauline “Polly” Judd. His parents were married on May 25, 1943 in East Jenkins, Letcher, Kentucky.
Charles was born to Roy Ogden Judd and Sallie Ellen Moore on December 30, 1924.
He grew up on Shirt Tail Fork in Little Blainecreek, next to a farm that had been in the family for generations. His family moved to Ashland because the job options in Lawrence County were coal mining or nothing. Charles met Pauline, a fourteen-year-old cashier with auburn hair, when she was a senior in high school.
Charles Judd was the owner of Judd’s Ashland Oil. He was also a business manager for the company. Charles’s wife, Pauline, was only fifteen when she married him. Glen bought his own gas station treasury and named it Judd’s Ashland Friendly Service.
Pauline Judd was born to Howard Waverly and Edith Mae Burton Oliver. She is originally from Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, USA. Naomi’s daughter Ashley described Edith as a “wandering alcoholic” who repeatedly cheated on Howard. Pauline lost her father, who was found dead in the bathroom with a bullet to the head. Pauline was 9 years old at the time.

Polly graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1945, was an Ashland City Manager, and a member of Ashland First Baptist Church.
Brian lost his father Charles on July 4, 1984 at the age of 59. While he lost his mother on July 31, 2019 at the age of 91.
