Meet Emma Hernan’s father, Thomas Hernan
Thomas Hernan, father of Emma Hernan, was born to her father Thomas W and Margaret “Peggy” Hernan (Marks). His parents were married for 65 years.
His father, Thomas, graduated from Cohasset High School, class of 1943, and served in World War II as a private in the US Navy. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during the conflict on Iwo Jima. . Mr. Hernan worked for the Cohasset Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as Deputy Chief.
His mother Margaret was the youngest of 12 children. She worked for Cohasset’s Deer Hill School as an aide and was a receptionist at the Cohasset Swim Center. A devout Catholic, she loved to knit, cook for her family, and spend time with friends over coffee on Monday mornings at the Senior Center.
Unfortunately, Thomas lost his father on January 4, 2013 at the age of 87. Then, on November 20, 2019, he lost his mother.
Thomas’s siblings are Carol Berens and her husband Michael of Weymouth and Jack and his wife Cindy of Scituate.

The chief praised all of the firefighters who helped and gave special thanks to the first companies, including Capt. Brian McGowan, Lt. Eric Norlin and firefighters Tom Hernan, Rich Dehn and Matt Regan. In that case, Tom made sure that the water hose reached the second floor.
Tom graduated from Cohasset High School.
