A new set of objectives has been added. Fortnite, and they are called encryption missions. These missions offer a wide variety of objectives, some requiring you to find hidden objects on the map, while others are more action oriented. The missions are mostly simple, although some of them can be confusing, especially if you don’t play often. In this guide, we will show you how to complete the new crypto quests including the mysterious crypto challenges.

encryption tasks
The regular crypto missions are fairly straightforward and require you to fight other players, find items in chests, and visit certain locations. They require much less grooming, but can still be demanding.
Visit Bastion Outposts (3)
All Bastion outposts are located in the snowy area of the island in the upper northeast area. Hit three of the four outposts to complete this mission.
Collect ammo from chests (150)
Another single. For this, just play normally and loot chests or ammo boxes and you’ll be done with this in no time.
Upgrade vehicles with off-road tires or rock throwers (3)
For this quest, we recommend visiting gas stations around the map to find off-road tires or cow hunters. Keep in mind that you have to use three upgrades, so grab more off-road tires and/or rock throwers, then watch out for the vehicles. Throw these items into the car to upgrade it.
Hit opponents with a weapon from a distance of 75 meters or more (5)
Again, if you play naturally, you’ll probably complete this task without too much effort. To make it easier for you, try to get a DMR or a long range rifle. Then mark the enemies with your pings, which will tell you how far they are from you. While they are at least 75 meters away, shoot. Every shot within 75 meters counts for this mission, so try to connect as many times as you can to complete this one quickly.
Mark objectives with Falcon Scout (3)
As you play, keep an eye out for the Falcon Scout item, which can be controlled remotely to mark opponents. We’ll go into more detail in a separate guide, but the main point is to find a Falcon Scout and then head to a heavily populated area. Hide in a decent place and then control the Scout to tag the opponents. You only need three to complete this mission.
Drive the vehicle in different named locations (5)
This is another simple quest, but it can take a bit of time depending on your luck and skill. Land somewhere where there is a vehicle (such as gas stations) and you will earn credit to visit a named location, such as Slappy Shores, Faulty Splits, or Anvil Square, as long as you are driving. You need five named locations for this quest.
Get eliminations with weapons of uncommon, rare, epic and legendary rarity or higher (3)
if you play Fortnite regular, you are probably familiar with the rarity system, but in case you are not, we will explain it to you. There are four quests in this category, one for each of the rarities listed. The four rarities and their corresponding colors are:
- less often: green
- Rare: blue
- Epic: Purple
- Legendary: Orange
You must secure three kills with each rarity to complete all missions in this category. To gain access to rarer weapon types, such as Legendary, or upgrade them at upgrade stations, grab them from chests or floor loot, collect them from Supply Drops, or even take out opponents.
Damage 2 enemies with an infantry rifle or a hex (300, 1000, 2000 and 3500)
This quest will take you a bit of time, as it relies on finding one of the aforementioned weapons in the wild, while also dealing a lot of damage. There are four missions in total, of which you have to solve 300, 1000, 2000 and 3500 with infantry rifle or six shooters. As you play, make sure you always have one of these weapons in your hands, and then do your best to deal damage with them, be it to real players, creatures, or other NPCs.

First, let’s go over encrypted encryption tasks. You are sent to locations on the map to collect certain items. The problem is that their descriptions are vague, making it hard to know where to find them.

This coded location is located in Anvil Square. Head into this area, then head to the east side of this location where you’ll find a garage with a lower floor. You will have to destroy the green and yellow shelves to find the stairs that go down. Go to this bottom floor and interact with the table along the wall to complete this quest.

In the middle of the Lonely Labs area, you’ll find three large orange containers out in the open. The southernmost one is next to a large snowy hill, and if you enter the container, you will find a hidden path that leads to an underground area. Drop down to the bottom and interact with the computer in the center of the room and you will get credit for completing this quest.

For this, you will need to visit the northwest side of the Shattered Slabs, as shown on the map above. Beneath one of the massive slabs is a small area with Slurp barrels, a chest, and a glowing mound. Hit it with your combine to reveal the last encrypted item.
