On October 31, 2006, Nikki and her parents had lunch together at the family home in Ladera Ranch, California. After that, her dad, Christos Catsouras, went to work while her mom, Lesli, stayed home.

About 10 minutes later, Lesli saw her daughter Nikki backing out of the driveway in Christos’s Porsche 911 Carrera, which she was not allowed to drive.

Lesli immediately called Christos and he went looking for his daughter. During that time, she even called 911. Nikki, on the other hand, was traveling on the 241 Turnpike in Lake Forest around 1:38 p.m.

He blocked a Honda Civic that was trying to turn right at over 100 miles per hour. Unfortunately, the car collided with an unmanned concrete toll booth near the Alton Parkway interchange and Nikki was killed on impact.

What happened to Nikki Catsoura’s face?

After the crash, Nikki Catsouras died, and after that, images of her face began to circulate on social networks. Newsweek also reported that the accident was so horrible that the coroner would not allow her parents to identify her daughter’s body.

Two CHP workers, Aaron Reich and Thomas O’Donnell, admitted turning them in against company protocol.

The autopsy report indicates that Niki’s face was completely disfigured and her head was severed by the impact of the car. Results of toxicology tests showed traces of cocaine in Catsouras’s body, but no alcohol.

O’Donnell received a 25-day suspension without pay, while Reich left shortly thereafter, unrelated to the incident. On May 25, 2011, the California Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Reich had failed to prove that the First Amendment covers sending images by email.

On January 30, 2012, Nikki’s family received compensation of approximately $2.37 million from CHP.
