Dean Poulton and his fiancée Borja De Maqua began renovations in March 2018. According to the star, they bought the property in Coleshill, Warwickshire, England with their life savings because they fell in love with it. “We never planned to buy this project. This just popped up! We were curious. We went to look, and when you fall in love, you fall in love,” Dean explained.
So when HGTV found out, they wanted to be in on it.
Their renovation of the “Tiny Estate” (as they like to call the mansion) is their most ambitious renovation to date. Dividing up the work, Dean took over the plumbing and electrical, and Borja took over the cabinetry. First, all the wall coverings and kitchen cabinets were done in the renovated housekeeper’s house, and the space was made available as a vacation rental, along with accommodation within the service quarters.
This also means more money for renovations. The two seem to have managed the expenses by completing jobs themselves and renting out vacation rentals.

Being able to work with the love of his life, Dean was more than happy to restore the property. Although he sometimes felt like giving up, his fiancée reminds them that they “worked very hard to build a future together, to have a good foundation for the next chapter of (their) lives for him.”

Let’s talk a little about Borja, he is originally from Spain. He moved to England only in 2011, in November 2021 he passed the citizenship test and officially became a British citizen. Like Dean, he has been in real estate for over a decade. But he only started working for him after meeting Dean.
“I never did anything before I met Dean. I just thought you pay different people to do things,” she joked before admitting that he didn’t even know how to hold a paintbrush before he met Dean.

On his birthday in 2022, Dean took to IG to share a series of photos of them with the caption: “Almost 10 years together and he keeps interfering with my perfectly organized plans… and while I’d hate anyone else to do that, I I love that about him.”
