Honkai: Star Railway gradually teaches you how to manage your Trailblaze power, a rechargeable resource that allows you to earn rewards from challenges like Calyx and Caverns of Corrosion. These challenges appear as the story progresses, forcing you to strategize how to use your Trailblaze power while it recharges. One of the latest challenges to appear is Stagnant Shadows, which rewards you with important materials to level up characters.
Some players may be confused about where to find Stagnant Shadows, as they only appear later in the game. Here’s how to unlock Stagnant Shadows and where to find them.
How to Unlock Stuck Shadows
The Stagnant Shadow quest appears right after reaching Balance Level 2, so you need to be at least Trailblaze level 30 for it to be relevant to your adventure. You can increase your balance level to level 2 only after reaching 30 TL.
Stagnant Shadows are the only way to get certain character leveling materials for your characters. You won’t be able to level up your party members without them, so they will become a necessary investment of your Trailblaze power later in the game.
Where to find Stagnant Shadows
You start with seven stale shades, one for each element. Honkai: Star Railway:
- Fulmination Form (Lightning)
- Quantum form (quantum)
- Beat shape (wind)
- flame form (fire)
- Spike shape (physics)
- Frost Form (Ice)
- The shape of a mirage (imaginary)
You can access them from the Interastral Guide in Survival Index, which has a separate tab for Stagnant Shadows. More stagnant shadows will appear as you explore different worlds. Check in the Stagnant Shadows tab after unlocking the new area. For example, after traveling to Xianzhou Luofu, more Stagnant Shadows appeared, which were not there before.
Outdated shades are hard to miss. They appear as a black mass of corrosion in the middle of vast areas, usually looking like an enemy standing in the mud. As with Calyx and Caverns of Corrosion, they activate automatically once you get close to them on the map. You can teleport to them at any time from the Interstate Guide or the World Map after unlocking them first.
