DSS Release Chiwetalu Agu

Experienced Nollywood actor CHIWETALU AGU, who was in DSS and military custody for almost a week for allegedly wearing Biafran clothing and inciting the public, has been released by the DSS. He was first arrested in Upper-Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra State, for adorning clothing that the military said reflected the colors of the Biafran flag.

Mr. Agu then claimed that he had not committed any known crime as he only wore clothes with the rising sun and distributed ten thousand naira worth of bread he bought to the poor and hungry.

The army later handed Agu over to the DSS, which immediately transferred him to Abuja. He was released tonight following the intervention of Mike Ozekhome’s department, who was notified by the Screen Actors Guild of Nigeria to take over Agu’s defense on a trial basis. Chief Ozekhome was informed by Chief Emeka Rollas, Steve Eboh and Waski, on behalf of the Screen Actors Guild of Nigeria, to intervene in the matter and secure Agu’s release. Chambers had several interactions with DSS agents, who, however, were very friendly and cooperative. Agua released Eboha and Monolisa Chindi (Media Director, Actors Union of Nigeria), DSS tonight at their headquarters in Abuja after an extensive search of their phones turned up nothing incriminating.

A jubilant Chiwetalu Agu in the company of Steve Eboh, later tonight visited Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN and his legal team, at their chamber in Abuja, to thank them and express gratitude for Agu’s release. A few moments of emotion.
