In 2011, police arrested him for the attempted murder of Texas resident Callie Quinn and for defrauding multiple people out of thousands of dollars. As the story goes, he posed as a Palestinian marathon runner and bragged that the Palestinian Federation of Chile had sponsored him to set a record by running 2,653 miles through Chile.

He also claimed that Palestinian Federation members Carlos Medina and Carlos Krauss gave him $8,000 for it. But organizers reportedly disqualified him after noticing a muscle tear in his leg. However, a medical examination showed otherwise, so he stopped returning their calls.

According to Texas Monthly, Youssef lured Callie into a tire store and hit her over the head with the toilet seat, before burying her alive. But she Callie survived the incident and was reported to the police. Her roommate also accused them of borrowing money from her and two other Mexican students.

Then they also found out that Youssef borrowed $50,000 ($12,000 for sports equipment and gave him $38,000 to buy real estate together) from British broker Dominic Rayner. Dominic confronted Youssef to claim what was owed to him, but Youssef planned to walk, physically attacking the British runner but causing minimal damage.

Youssef later “begged him not to tell anyone what happened,” according to the Texas Monthly article.

Youssef was reportedly arrested in 2009 but did not appear for trial in January 2011. He is wanted for arson, embezzlement, forgery and fraud. But the police caught him on August 9 of that year after setting up a bank transfer. He at first claimed that he was not responsible for the attack on Callie, but later confessed. But he said that he had no intention of killing her.
