The paperback version features an all-new chapter, titled “The Next Chapter,” which the 29-year-old former NFL player wrote in July 2020. The following month, he revealed that Randolph, 25, had signed new pages, detailing their battle with the coronavirus and their split, which they revealed via Instagram in May 2020.

Their battle with COVID-19 has tested their relationship “The situation was unfortunate, impossible to predict, incredibly difficult and surreal. And while I won’t say it led to our breakup, it did put extreme stress and strain on our connection, as it did with the many people’s lives,” Underwood wrote in the new chapter. After a while, the superstar invited Cassie to dinner and they met in Los Angeles: “We hooked up like nothing had happened in the last five months. Then when we woke up the next morning, I realized that everything was different,” he recalled. “I felt the need to say I love you before she walked out the door, and I felt she did too. No softly closing door made a louder sound.”
