Self-proclaimed, “Intense, Energetic, Fun”, Mike Gabler thinks that life is short and life is now. He shared with Parade.com, the person he is today is the best person he’s ever been and he wants to get better with each passing day. Survivor 43 is a challenge for him that he believes will test him in every possible way imaginable.
Mike is a long time survivor fan. He and his wife watched the show even before they had children. It has become something they now do as a family. Mike told Parade.com that his favorite Survivor winner is Jeremy Collins.
One thing that prepared him for Mike was his career as a clinician preparing for Survivor. He states: “Sometimes it’s in high-pressure situations. Being able to communicate and work effectively and get good patient outcomes with that team, I think that will probably help me a lot here when it gets really dangerous.”
Mike thinks his co-stars’ first impression would be of a “serious-looking guy.” He has a shaved head and beard and several tattoos. He adds: “So, you don’t know what the first impression might be. But I am a very honest person. And I think time is on my side. The longer you can stay in the game, the better. Because I really, really care about people.”
And he added: “It comes from my work with patients. And I think if I can connect with people and they can connect with me, it will increase my power in the game and it will improve me. The deeper I go, the more powerful I will be.”
Mike looks for partnerships that have heart and are “out there for a variety of reasons that aren’t just the person at the end or the title.” He said: “So I think that kind of real competitor is someone I’d like to align with to go deeper into the game.”
After representing the Baka tribe during an off-site excursion, Gabler successfully staked his vote and was able to secure an immunity idol that would only work at one of his first two tribal councils. When his tribe lost the first immunity challenge, Gabler said that he did not want to use his advantage and even intended to use his opportunity in the dark during tribal council.

Mike Gabler has served as the Transcatheter Heart Valve Territory Manager at Edwards Lifesciences since 2014. Prior to that, he served in the same role in Texas. Prior to that, Mike worked at Medtronic as a Territory Manager (Endovascular) from 2005 to 2011.
He regularly assisted vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, interventional radiologists, and their associates in film reading, aortic mapping, pre-case planning, case follow-up, 3D imaging, and clinical problem solving.
