Boz Scaggs is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for his deep voice and unique blend of rock, blues, and R&B music.
Scaggs grew up in Texas after being born in Canton, Ohio on June 8, 1944. He joined the Steve Miller Band in the 1960s, which was the beginning of his musical career.
He played guitar and sang on several of the band’s early albums. In 1968, Boz released his debut solo album, “Boz Scaggs”, which was a critical success.
During his career, Scaggs released a total of 19 studio albums, including “Middle Man”, “Other Roads”, “Dig” and “A Fool to Care”.
He worked with many famous musicians, such as Donald Fagen, Carlos Santana, and Duane Allman.
Scaggs has received numerous Grammy Award nominations over the years in recognition of his musical talent.
He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 for his work with the Steve Miller Band.

While Boz Scaggs isn’t currently facing any major health issues, he has faced a few in the past.
After feeling that making music had become a “career” and that music had “left him”, Scaggs took an extended hiatus from recording.
According to Boz, he tried to make a new album in 1983, but it didn’t feel authentic. Anxiety took its toll on the singer.

In 1985 he felt anxiety and the feeling that “something very big” was missing in his life, and he felt that he had to put out a record.
Their next album, Other Roads, however, was not released until 1988. This was because Columbia rejected the record as they felt it lacked a hit single.
As a result, Scaggs spent more time perfecting the album. “Heart of Mine,” featured on Other Roads, is his latest top 40 hit since 2018.
In 1988, Scaggs also became part owner of Slim’s nightclub in San Francisco, which remained open until it closed in 2020.
There were also challenges in his family. Despite his popularity, his late son, Oscar, was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder at a young age.
He struggled with reading and understanding oral information and changed schools many times without finding his place. According to the interview, she never gave up.
When asked if Oscar’s past drug use might have affected his ability to raise children, Scaggs replied that he had only consumed alcohol since 1967.
Unfortunately, Scaggs lost his Oscar to an accidental heroin overdose on December 31, 1998.

Boz Scaggs has two marriages behind him. In 1973 he married Donna Carmella Storniola, who would become his first wife.
They had two sons: Austin, who became a music journalist for Rolling Stone, and Oscar, who died of a heroin overdose in 1998.
The couple divorced in 1980, but Scaggs eventually won joint custody of their children after three and a half years. Carmella passed away in February 2017.

In 1992, Scaggs married Dominique Gioia. They moved to Napa Valley in 1996 and planted 2.2 hectares of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Counoise,
This resulted in their first wine produced in 2000. In 2006, Scaggs Vineyard became certified organic, which they sold to Newfound Wines in 2016.
In October 2017, Scaggs’ home was destroyed by wildfires in Northern California. He and his wife were on tour, so they were not harmed by the fires.
However, he lost everything, including his vineyard, cars, and sentimental items like legal notepads and lettered cocktail napkins.
