Jason Gaskell is one of the new faces of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7, which premiered on July 11, almost nine months after the last season. This season, viewers will head to Malta. The new yacht called Home is home to seven recruits.
In the series, Jason appears as a hard-working sailor. Other new cast members include Raygan Tyler (Bosun), Storm Smith (Deckhand), Natalya Scudder (Third Stew), Kyle Viljoen (Second Stew), Dave White (Cook) and Natasha Webb (Head Stew).
Returning members are Mzi “Zee” Dempers and Captain Sandy. The show revolves around a similar theme to the previous first six seasons, namely what it’s like to work on a yacht and the drama that ensues when crew members start working together. Jason Gaskell began his career in the world of finance. He founded the Gaskell Stringing Service in 2002. He ran the company until 2008.
From 2005 to 2008, Jason also interned at Scannell Wealth Management Group, LLC. In 2009, Jason worked at Lane Gorman Trubitt, LLP as a staff auditor. The auditor position lasted until 2010. In January 2010, MMD Holdings hired him as controller. He continued to work at the company until 2012.
He then joined Essilor as a Senior Financial Analyst until 2014.
From March 2014 to February 2020, Jason worked at Ambit Energy as a Senior Business and Financial Risk Analyst. He is credited with being the lead analyst and sole energy trader responsible for trading more than $750 million a year. He handled the overall position and exposition of Ambit’s shared power along with the analysis of all the other aspects that go into it.
Jason joined Ambit with no prior industry knowledge, but he had the drive, brainpower, and analytical insight to deliver tangible results within months of joining the team. Also created curve model for all electricity markets, price automation tools, ICE RTD models for electricity and gas markets, introduced internal PJM and MISO ARR/CRR processes, hedging proposal models, researched and analyzed Wind Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Commodity Forecasting Models, etc.
For the next six months after leaving Ambit Energy, he worked for Energy Monger as CFO.
Since 2022, Jason has owned Sextant Sailing and Sextant Consulting.
Jason graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting. In 2020, he earned an MBA degree in economics from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
In March 2020, Jason obtained his Yachtmaster certificate from the Royal Yachting Association.
