‘Magic eye’ optical illusion has left viewers arguing about what they see – which animal do you think is hidden?

A thread on REDDIT shared an impressive optical illusion that baffled thousands of users as they shared their thoughts in the comments.

A poster named SusAmongGoose shared the photo on the BlackMagicF*ckery thread with the caption, “trust me, something will jump off your screen.”

The post contained multiple images in the form of a sheet. It looks messy from a distance, but the caption on the image tells the user to look very carefully.

“Put the tip of your nose in the middle of the image and slowly (yes, I mean very slowly) pull back.” Read the title.

By doing this, the photo gives a 3D effect as the user zooms out and reveals the hidden image within.

If you can focus your eyes very carefully, you may be able to make out the silhouette of a giraffe. However, others in the thread claim there are more giraffes, while others said they saw a glider.

The post received over 9,000 upvotes in less than a day with almost 1,500 comments.

“I love it when people rediscover Magic Eye,” the top comment read, referring to the popular book series of the same name.

“Really? Haha, this was the ultimate design in 1992,” another user replied.

Magic Eye books feature autostereograms, which are static images that give the illusion of a 3D effect.

It is not known if the original post was taken from the Magic Eye series, but many users felt nostalgic when they saw the photo.

“Ahh the magic eye,” the user wrote. “I’d burn my nerves out watching and never see anything tormenting me on Reddit again.”

While some boasted that they could view hidden images “instantly”, others were not so lucky.

“This has never worked for me…I don’t know why!” another user said, and many in the thread agreed with them.

Users say the photo reminds them of Magic Eye, a series of books filled with photos that give 3D effects.
