Arnold, our husband, father, brother and friend.” David died quietly at home today and doctors determined that he died of natural causes. Arnold, born March 15, 1968, attended Beachwood High School. He became interested in stand-up comedy after seeing the spectacular show Delirious directed by Eddie Murphy. Arnold then made his debut at Cleveland’s 4th Street Hilarities Theatre.
He started his career as a comedian in 1990 and became a television writer in 2000. David has written scripts for television series such as Meet the Browns, House of Payne, The Rickey Smiley Show and others. He also wrote and produced the Netflix series Fuller House.
Arnold hopes to follow in the footsteps of other comedians who have developed series based on their show. Although he was in talks with BET to create a sitcom based on his life, the project never came to fruition. He recently said on the Renaissance Man podcast that BET informed him that he was not black enough and therefore could not be sold. David continued:
“That’s why they informed me. This is something I’ll never forget. I’m in the process of creating a series with Kevin Hart.”
He quickly became famous on social media and his spontaneous actions were warmly received by fans. Arnold said he continues to release movies and comics as he did 15 years ago. He also stated:
“I started rambling about what it’s like to raise pre-pubescent kids with a wife that’s always by your ear, and then this broke out.” And I went from no followers to over a million followers on all of these sites.”
Arnold created the Nickelodeon comedy show That Girl Lay Lay. Meet the Browns, A Series of Unfortunate People and The Tony Rock Project are among the shows on which he appeared. David A. Arnold: Fat Ballerina and Ain’t For the Weak, his stand-up comedy specials, are available on Netflix.
