However, the growth of the big players is starting to stall and customers are feeling exhausted and looking for other ways to watch while keeping more money in their pockets. Tubi is a streaming service with a twist: it’s free. The fast-growing company offers a mix of on-demand, original movies and TV shows (this would be the AVOD part) and live TV channels (FAST part) without having to pay a monthly subscription. Think of it as a kind of commercialized version of Netflix without a subscription.
Since Tubi is free, you’ll still have to make some compromises. First of all, there are ads. They are not overwhelming, but they are there. Second, on-demand content consists mostly of old movies and shows that are reruns on cable and other streaming services. In the meantime, look around Tubi and you’ll find some diamonds in the rough. The catalog is not available in 4K Ultra HD resolution and at most in Full HD, depending on the age of the material. There is also no upgrade option for a better viewing experience.
