‘Google Mine:’ List all your belongings and share your hoarding habits on Google+

Google

Google is always looking for ways to improve its Google+ service. Whether it’s fixing bugs, listening to user feedback, or creating new subsections within the program, Google invests in its social creation. Today, the company adds another facet to the Google+ diamond, but this time it’s an entirely new service. The aptly named Google Mine will help you keep track of items you currently own or would like to own in the future. Think of it like a “Pinterest” or “Wish” type of service, with the added convenience of displaying things you’ve already received. In a true social way, your friends will be able to see your lists and comment on specific articles.

GoogleMinePhotoWith this new service you will be able to catalog your belongings and keep track of what you already have. You’ll also be able to get Google recommendations for products you might enjoy based on items you already own. It’s also possible to browse your friends’ list, and you can even send them requests to try on or borrow a particular item they might have. Of course, there are privacy settings, so you can define who can see your listings.

This tool can also help you get rid of some unwanted things that you have around the house. Google Mine offers a great tool that allows you to mark an item as a “gift” item so your friends or others can see what you’re trying to get rid of. It’s unknown if you’ll be able to use this as a “marketplace” to sell products, but judging by the “borrow” or “gift” theme, it’s safe to say that’s not allowed at this time.

Google Mine is currently being tested internally, but we should see a possible release date for this service soon. There’s also an Android app for the service available on Bazaar, which is Google’s internal Play Store, so we can expect this show to appear on Android as soon as it’s available. If you’re interested in a list of possible build commands, as well as some of the icons the program will use, be sure to check out Google’s unofficial operating system blog.
