Survivor 44 has found its champion. Yam Yam Arocho, a beauty salon owner from Puerto Rico, defeated Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt and Carolyn Wiger to walk out of the show in style. Speaking of style, her husband Karim Saenz designs her shirts and T-shirts, including the ones he wore on the survival show.

Meet Karim Saenz, Survivor 44 Winner, Husband of Yam Yam Arocho
Karim Saenz and Yam Yam Arocho first met in October 2019, and by the end of that year, the two were already in love.
According to Karim, Yam Yam came into his life when he “least expected it”. Filled with “chaos and a shadow I don’t know how to embrace”, Karim often breaks down when he first meets him. But no matter the “time, day, place or how it looks”, Yam Yam was always there for him.
“Very few times in life one is lucky enough to meet great friends,” Karim dedicated an IG post to Yam Yam. “And they are the ones who teach us that it doesn’t matter how we look, if our eyes are swollen from tears or from laughter.”
He added that Yam Yam protected him, was there for him, rebuilt him (while he was in pieces), and always had the perfect words to make him feel at home (even when he was an ocean away).
Not surprisingly, the two got engaged a year and a half after they met and tied the knot exactly one year later on March 22, 2021.
“Living day after day with you and being able to see your constant effort and determination; it makes me know that I want to continue living all the achievements you will achieve”, Yam Yam celebrated his ½ anniversary on IG.
Likewise, on their first anniversary, the Survivor 44 winner took to his IG and wrote, “This year’s memories were better and a journey of growth. Thank you for allowing us to live together all these days and grow from each experience, conversation, laughter and crying.
The Karim Saenz era
Karim Sáenz was 31 years old in 2023.
She is 5 years younger than her husband Yam Yam.
Where is Karim Saenz from?
Karim Sáenz comes from Mexico.
But in 2023 I was living in San Juan, Puerto Rico with Yam Yam and their two babies (a dog and a cat).
Her husband Yam Yam is also from Puerto Rican family and said he was proud to have the opportunity to represent his husband, mom, dad, brothers, nephews, friends and colleagues on Survivor 44.
Likewise, his mother Sandra Miranda (Karim’s mother-in-law) is proud of her son for participating in the show. Last we checked, Sandra was working as a hair specialist at her salon, Miranda Beauty @mirandabeautypr. Unfortunately, Yam Yam’s parents have been at odds since he was a child. So the star is closer to his mother because she is always there in his life.
Karim Sáenz’s business
The owner of Black Lagoon, Karim Saenz is a fashion designer. He has been in the industry for more than a decade and his work has been published in various magazines in Mexico, the United Kingdom, Asia, the United States, etc.
Taking monochromatic colours, nature and the depths of the ocean as his main inspiration, Karim keeps all the unique pieces in Black Lagoon. This is also the reason why his products have limited availability by design to preserve exclusive pieces.
“We know that when you get in or out of the water, all you have to do is have fun. Black Lagoon is not just a swimsuit,” they wrote.
Last time we checked, Black Lagoon has four collections for sale, of which Collection 01 is out of stock. Most of their swimwear ranged from $65 to $250. Additionally, the company ran a campaign called “Timeless Abalone,” inspired by a trip to Puerto Escondido, Mexico. “Meeting with local artisans, buying a pearl necklace and looking at that day between the sunset, the wet stones and the sea. Immobile giants of three colors, blue, sand and black”, explained the project.
In addition to swimwear, Karim also designs shirts and T-shirts. In fact, Yam Yam’s Acapulco jersey (the one he wore at Survivor 44) was designed by Karim. The designer said that she made the shirt for her husband as a keepsake from her home.
