The new reality series Mathis Family Matters from E! premiered on June 19, 2022, and the series featured the daily lives of the Honorable Judge Greg Mathis, his wife Linda Mathis, and his children Greg Jr., Camara, Amir, and our star, Jade Mathis.
Well, while some may be seeing Jade’s dad Greg for the first time, the judge is certainly not new to the reality TV scene. Before that, he was the face of the Emmy-winning court show Judge Mathis. But Mathis Family Matters is definitely the first show that followed all the members of the Mathis family.

She married Judge Greg right out of college and welcomed her offspring to Detroit, Michigan. In 2005, the Mathis family moved to Los Angeles and have lived there ever since.

She founded The Resilient JEM, LLC in October 2021 to educate marginalized minorities on how to own their story and stand out, spark resilience, and empower them to implement strategic plans that will accelerate their lives.
According to Jade, her initiatives have included continuing to work on criminal justice reform, motivational speaking, and advocating for mental health awareness.
Following in her father’s footsteps, and also after receiving a life-changing mental health diagnosis during her studies, Jade became determined to change the way the world views mental health. Since then, she has captured the attention of millions of people around the world, not only sharing her story of resilience and perseverance, but also her courageous, authentic, unapologetic and unabashed approach to dealing with mental health.
Nicknamed the “Purging Guru,” Jade also saw firsthand the disparities and failings in the criminal justice system and created diversion programs as an alternative to incarceration.
Prior to that, Jade worked for seven long years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County, Maryland. At the end of her term in October 2021, Jade took it to her IG to write: “The most valuable lesson I’ve learned working on the front lines of the criminal justice system is that sometimes justice isn’t prison. It is reform. and rehabilitation. Being a non-traditional prosecutor is one of my proudest accomplishments. Although today is my last day in this role, it is not my last day of fighting for the voiceless and advocating for reform.”

Judge Greg immediately asked her to go see a psychologist. And so he did.
After her diagnosis, Jade learned to “protect her ears.” Not literally, but what she hears and what she sees. “I was a news junkie, but I had to retire from the news. I had to withdraw from some reality shows,” she explained.
Additionally, Jade learned to advocate for herself and, over time, discovered that she also helps those around her who are struggling with mental health. Her only advice to people struggling with themselves is to be resilient and be able to bounce back.
Now Jade is grateful for her invisible disability because it has allowed her to be able to help many like her.
