She left Ilorin for the first time for high school in Suleja and that time allowed her to really find Christianity for herself. She joined and rose to become vice president of the Suleja Scholarship School Academy for the Gifted and took a conservative approach to Christianity, distrusting churches and scholarships that tried to copy secular trends as a way to reach people outside the church. She returned home for the holidays to discover that her sisters had begun attending a non-denominational ‘youth club’ that was accepting of all kinds of people and focused on worship and fellowship rather than doctrine and legalism. It took some time, but her sisters convinced her to go, telling her that she needed to meet different kinds of people, especially former prostitutes and bodybuilders who had given her life to Christ. Busola reluctantly joined her sisters in the youth club, but she didn’t feel comfortable there, partly because of the way they worshiped and because I was the youngest person there.
