Why this works is explained by the clever scientists at ASAP Science, in a fascinating video.
As the video explains, this trick shows the exact position of your dead center.
He continues: “Cells at the front of the eye translate light into signals that are sent to the brain.”
He explains that they are missing where the optic nerves and blood vessels connect to the eye, “so you can’t see anything in your vision at that point.”
The video goes on to explain other optical illusions, including an image of a grid with multiple black dots, which are almost impossible to see at once.
There is also a flashing rectangular puzzle that is so creepy it will blow your mind.
The two rectangles appear to flash out of sync until the colored blocks are placed on either side and then appear to flash together.
But move the blocks just a bit and they’ll be misaligned again.
