The first episode of HBO’s House of Dragons airs on August 21, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. CST, starring Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off. Emma D’Arcy will play the adult princess Rhaenyra Targaryen starting in the second episode, The Rogue Prince. Both series are based on novels by George RR Martin, although House of Dragons deals more with Daenerys Targaryen’s lineage as the last Targaryen and Mother of Dragons. The current TV series takes place 200 years before Game of Thrones and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys. It begins with the reign of King Jaehaerys Targaryen and how Viserys I Targaryen was made king when both of Jaehaerys’ sons died.

Who is Emma D’Arcy or the elder Rhaenyra Targaryen?
Emma D’Arcy is yet to appear in the new HBO series. In the second episode, The Rogue Prince, they will appear as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. D’Arcy born in London, England, is an English film, television and stage actor. Before the Game of Thrones spin-off, D’Arcy was in notable TV projects like Truth Seekers, an Amazon Prime Video horror comedy due out in 2020.
Their relationship with Amazon Prime Video has grown with the 2019 action series Hanna. They have also appeared on BBC One and Netflix’s Wanderlust. D’Arcy was identified as non-binary, and House of the Dragons became one of the few series to feature a non-binary lead actor.
Expectations from Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen
Milly Alcock set the standard by portraying Rhaenyra in the first episode of House of the Dragon, which ended with the princess being crowned as the Iron Throne’s appointed queen.
As the show’s commercials imply, characters and interpersonal dynamics will grow with D’Arcy in charge in the second episode.
