Connor Sturgeon’s parents
The father of Louisville shooting suspect Connor Sturgeon is Todd Sturgeon. A boy named Cameron, who is three years younger than Connor, was also born to Todd and Lisa Sturgeon. The 58-year-old former coach lives in Floyd County, Greenville, Indiana.
He also resided in other places, including Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, Indianapolis, and Fishers, Indiana. Todd played college basketball at DePauw University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1988.
Before being named head coach of the University of Indianapolis basketball program, he received his master’s degree from Indiana State University. From January 2013 to March 2014, Todd also served as the president of Home Care Assistance of Kentuckiana.
Three months later, he returned to coaching, taking over the head coaching position at Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs. Connor played basketball in high school for his father. Before killing five people on Monday, Connor Sturgeon left a message for Lisa and Todd Sturgeon.

“There are no words to express our sadness, anguish and horror at the unimaginable harm our son Connor has caused innocent people, their families and the entire Louisville community.”
“We are sorry for your loss and the loss of our son, Connor. We pray for all those traumatized by his senseless acts of violence and are deeply grateful for the bravery and heroism of the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department.
“Although Connor, like many of his contemporaries, had mental health issues that we as a family were actively dealing with, there were never any warning signs or indications that he was capable of this shocking act.”
“While we have many unanswered questions, we will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement officials and do everything we can to help everyone understand why and how this happened.”
Who is Connor Sturgeon?
In Louisville, Kentucky, a 25-year-old bank clerk wrote a note to loved ones before leaving for work Monday morning and opened fire, killing five people and wounding eight others. He knew they were going to fire him. Before starting full-time in June 2021, he interned at Old National Bank in Louisville for three consecutive summers between 2018 and 2020. In December 2020, Sturgeon graduated from the University of Alabama.
He attended an accelerated master’s program and simultaneously completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in finance. Sturgeon represented his high school basketball and track teams in suburban Louisville, and was selected as a 2015 National Merit Scholarship finalist.
Mass shooting in Louisville
Sturgeon would reportedly lose his position at the bank as associate and portfolio banker. He was hired as a permanent employee after completing three internships starting in 2018.
Around 8:30 a.m., he stormed into the bank and began firing an AR-15 assault rifle he had just purchased, while live-streaming the carnage on social media. Sturgeon injured eight people and killed five employees, including a personal friend of Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
Sturgeon apparently left a voicemail for a friend before shooting his workplace, saying he felt “suicidal” and intended to “kill everyone in the bank.” He also left notes describing his deadly plan for his roommate and his parents, though it is unknown when they were found.

Louisville bank shooting victims
All of Sturgeon’s victims were employees of the Old National Bank, which was closed for customer service when the shooting occurred.
They were identified as Senior Vice President Tommy Elliott, 63; Marketing Director Jim Tutt, 64; another senior vice president, Joshua Barrick, 40; business loan specialist Juliana Farmer, 45; and Executive Administrative Officer Deana Eckert, 57.
