According to LinkedIn, Benji owned and worked as a trainer at Sawtooth Strength and Conditioning. While attending MSU, he studied fitness and wellness. This passion of his led him on a whole new journey competing from the local, state to national level.
On November 29, 2003, an unknown weightlifter from Sun Valley, Idaho named Benji Hill participated in the World Weightlifting Championships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He delivered on the biggest stage in powerlifting, dominating the tournament, shocking his opponents and winning the 225-pound world title. In addition, he also set personal bests in the deadlift: 705 pounds; squat: 766 pounds; and bank—501 lbs., same day.
After his legendary victory, Benji gave up weightlifting. “I was tired from all my training, food, and time in the gym. I wanted to go back to my roots and my love of nature.”
Benji spent the next 15 years working as a ski instructor and other part-time jobs while establishing himself as one of the top personal trainers in the Sun Valley area and beyond. He also began spending a significant amount of time exploring the mountains and wilderness areas surrounding his hometown.
Now Benji teaches kids ages 8 to 15 outdoor skills to survive and have fun. He teaches the basics of hunting and fishing, making a fire, finding water and food, as well as tool making, wilderness safety, tracking, sailing, and lots of fun.
