Robert Stacey teams up with Mireia Ferreres Luna to compete on Season 5 of Bake Off: The Professionals.
In an interview with The Westmorland GazetteRobert said he was hesitant to commit to a career in food.
“I’ve always loved food and it was a big part of family life as it is for most people and I had the option of becoming a chef or studying art,” he told the outlet. “I realized that I could probably cook both: follow a passion with food and create beautiful works of art on a plate.”
This, Robert added, is his ‘naive’ and ‘young’ mentality and ultimately a justification because he knew he would always have a job. Robert applied to Westminster Kingsway College of Culinary Arts while scrubbing pots and making sandwiches at a local gastropub, going on to study and work in various pubs and clubs in South London.
Robert was soon introduced to the hard side of the industry when he landed a job at Marc Pierre White’s L’Escargot restaurant in Soho. After leaving, Robert went to the bar where he was the assistant manager. “In college I burned out and worked a little too hard and needed front-of-house understanding.”

The lineup of 8 professional chef couples is ready to compete in the 5th season Bake Off: The Pros. The show premieres on Channel 4. Liam Charles, a former contestant, co-hosts the show along with Stacey Solomon. The latter replaces comedian Tom Allen in the episodes. To win the season, the contestants must impress the judging panel consisting of Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden.
Robert Stacey is one half of the couple representing Levens Kitchen. He honed his skills with Gordon Ramsay at Claridges and Le Caprice & Galvin at Windows before moving to Cumbria to join The Castle Dairy. Robert teamed up with his colleague Mireia. They have been working in Levens for the last 18 months. He started cooking in Barcelona, where he won international awards for his pastry skills.

Robert Stacey’s career
While still at university, Robert Stacey managed to pack in a month’s work at the world-famous Ritz, three months at what was Gordon Ramsay’s at Claridge’s, and two weeks at the private bank Coutts and Co.
In March 2006, Robert joined Mitchells & Butlers based in Blackheath, London, as Assistant Manager. He worked in the business for just over a year and a half before resigning in October 2007.
From October 2007 to March 2008, Robert worked at SKI POWER doo as a private chef.
Immediately after a six-month private chef job, he obtained the position of Senior Chef De Partie at Caprice Holdings Ltd. He worked with the company until February 2010. A month later, Robert started working at Galvin Restaurants as Chef de Partie and continued to work until April 2011.
In addition, Robert found his culinary identity at Galvin at Windows, in London’s Park Lane Hilton, under the direction of Andre Garrett. “It probably had the biggest influence on my style and approach to food – clean, fresh and well presented. It was simply the best food I’ve cooked since I started.”
After that, from April 2011 to December 2011, Robert started working for Aramark at Price Waterhouse Coopers, located in Kendal, Cumbria, as Head Chef. For one year, from May 2016 to May 2017, he worked as General Manager and Head Chef at The Lancrigg Hotel.
Also, after leaving his job at Lancrigg, Robert joined The Plow in Lupton as Head Chef. He started working there in May 2017. At the time of his resignation from The Plow, he was also working at Cricketers Inns Limited, which he joined in January 2018.
Robert resigned from both positions in January 2019.
Since January 2019, he has been working at the Levens Hall Estate as Executive Chef.
Following Robert’s academic qualifications, he attended the Boys’ Haberdashery School from 1997 to 2004. He studied art, mathematics, and biology. In 2004, he attended Westminster Kingsway College and obtained his professional chef’s degree in 2007.
