Rob Winebrenner and Robin Swoboda announced their relationship on October 7, 2021.
In an interview with WKYC, when Robin first met Rob, she thought he was handsome and flirted with her. He then asked Robin out on a date. She replied that she was chubby, that she had gray hair, that she was 60 years old and that she had cancer. And instead he asked if he wanted to go out with her?
After hearing all of that, even though it might be a deal breaker for other people, he agreed to go out with her.
The more Rob talked to her, the more he wanted to hear her story and what was going on. Her story was as interesting as Robin herself.
On their third date, Rob may have saved Robin’s life. He took Robin to University Hospital after she had a life-threatening reaction after her first round of chemotherapy. He spent three days in the ICU. Robin couldn’t stop talking around her. She said: “She saw me at my worst. I mean, she took me to the ER, she knows my weight, she knows my sodium level, she’s seen it all and she keeps coming back. She’s crazy.”
Robin laughed and told WKYC that she wishes she had someone in her life with her first breast cancer diagnosis. And from the sounds of it, Rob and Robin are certainly inseparable. “I’ve been waiting for it my whole life,” Robin said.
First wife and children of Rob Winebrenner
Rob had two children with his first wife, Laura Winebrenner, who also had ovarian cancer and died in 2009. He had a son named Justin and a daughter named Kelly Winebrenner. Kelly is married to her husband Tim Campbell.
Justin attended Wadsworth and Barberton schools, graduating from Barberton in 2001. He followed his father’s footsteps into a career in law enforcement, studying at the University of Akron and later working at the Medina County Youth Center, where he enjoyed working with youth in crisis.
He joined the Akron police force in 2007. However, Justin Robert Winebrenner, an Akron police officer, was killed in an off-duty altercation at Papa Don’s in November 2014. He had a daughter named Charlee Ayn with his son’s mother, Tiffany, whom he proposed to in the Bahamas.
Robert spends a lot of time with Robin as she deals with the discomfort that chemotherapy has brought to her life.
