Dog’s Sassy Reaction to Newborn Leaves Internet Laughing—’States His Views’

A dog has made his feelings known about the new addition to the house in a hilarious viral video.

With over 4.2 million views since July 9, @cutelittleidiots’ TikTok video of Cane Corso Meatball telling their owners how they feel about their new baby has left people in stitches. He howls and groans, with text overlays of himself imagining what Meatball might say.

“But sooo…” the text reads, before adding, “I’m just trying to tell you something very strong. The baby can’t come back after 90 days so I’m going to need you to get moving.” When his owner says the baby is here to stay, Meatball protests again as the text jokes that he responds, “You’re being extremely unreasonable.”

Meatball lives in Miami, Florida with his owner Jenn and their new three-month-old baby. Jenn said news week:: “Her first reaction to the baby was ‘that’s it’ and she tried to smell it, but then she got scared and ran away.

“This went on for about three weeks, and every time she cried, he would hide behind the sofa.”

Certified dog trainer Joe Nutkins said news week: “Our pets can have a variety of reactions when a baby joins the family, from excitement and a desire to participate at every stage, to worry, fear, or ‘jealousy.’ Although dogs don’t understand jealousy, they can show signs of feeling left out.”

Dogs are a big part of the family and when a new member arrives, it’s natural that they need some getting used to.

Nutkins said it’s not just the baby’s presence that can confuse them. “Consider your dog’s senses; they have better hearing, vision, and much better smell. Something that suddenly changes with a new baby is things that affect the senses like the new smell with baby lotions, powders, creams, etc.,” Nutkins added. “Make sure you have some of these scents ahead of time, you can use them on yourself to get your dog used to the scents.”

It can also help to place things like the crib, stroller, and baby gate with your dog in there, so you can see them approach. Keeping your canine companion informed about new additions to the home can help alleviate any anxiety they may be feeling when the baby arrives.

Of course, some dogs will immediately accept the new addition, like the Bernese Mountain Dog, who has formed a close bond with the baby. Meanwhile, other pups are more likely to think your new baby preparations are for them, like golden retriever Kobe, who assumed the newly decorated room was for him.

“Meatball is opinionated and has a very extra personality,” Jenn said. “I get a lot of messages telling me how Meatball makes their day and it really makes me happy to be able to post something and make someone happy.”

In more than 1,200 comments, TikTok users shared their reactions and joy after seeing the cane corsa protest.

“Meatball said what he said,” itme wrote, while Cowboys20 added: “He makes his views clear.”

“The seriousness in his eyes as he pontificates,” Dannyp091189 posted, while Big Duck Dog Treats commented, “I can’t stop laughing.”

“Dogs can suddenly feel abandoned with the attention from family and visitors on the baby, so it’s important to make sure they still spend time with you,” Nutkins said. “Even a short walk with them, playing in the garden or getting ready can really boost their confidence that the baby isn’t taking you for granted.”
