EFCC Arrests Nigerian Musician, Naira Marley

Nigerian musician Nair Marley arrested by EFCC

The Financial and Currency Crime Center (EFCC) has arrested a Nigerian musician, Naira Marley, real identity Afeez Fashola.

The fast-rising singer is currently on trial at the EFFC office in Lagos.

Although the reason for his arrest has not yet been released, it may be related to his statements on social media glorifying web scammers, popularly known as the Yahoo guys.

Perhaps coincidentally, Naira Marley released the official video for her hit ‘Am IA Yahoo Boy’ featuring Zlatan on Thursday.

Naira Marley, during the current live session on Instagram, called on Nigerians to have hope in web scammers (Yahoo Boys) saying that they are the reason money circulates among ordinary people.

He said, “All of you, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, do you suppose the government makes money circular?”

The video has since sparked backlash from Nigerians who have described Marley as embarrassing and unhealthy for younger Nigerians.

Despite this, several Nigerians supported Marley, stating that the Yahoo boys are the reason some Nigerians are able to eat and survive.

The singer is all the rage for his 2017 hit titled ‘That’s the Purpose’.
