Bruce Bogtrotter actor Jimmy Karz looks unrecognisable after quitting fame to become a doctor

MATILDA Actor Jimmy Karz, who played Bruce Bogtrotter in Matilda, is unrecognizable after turning his back on fame.

Jimmy, now 38, starred in the most memorable scene from the 1996 hit, where he was forced to eat a giant chocolate cake in front of the entire school.

Jimmy Karz was only 12 years old when he played Bruce Bogtrotter in the movie Matilda.

Matilda marked her acting debut and went on to work in the popular medical drama ER starring George Clooney and Alex Kingston in 1998.

He played Alfred Clark, in the episode A Day for a Knight, which is the first episode of the fifth season.

In 1998, he had a role in the Adam Sandler film The Wedding Singer as the ‘most studious kid’ at the Bar Mitzvah.

Starring in the ’90s classic, Jimmy squeezed Drew Barrymore’s ass while they danced together.

He was only 12 years old when he was cast as Matilda’s friend in the adaptation of the Roald Dahl story.

After struggling to get through a giant chocolate cake filled with the “sweat and blood” of the school cook, Matilda, played by Mara Wilson, stands up and yells, “You can do it, Brucey”, prompting the rest of the student group to join in cheering him on.

Finding the courage to polish off the entire cake, Bruce completes his challenge with a mighty belch that rocks the school hall.

It ends, and her overjoyed classmates roar with joy as they applaud her triumph over their hated principal, Mrs. Trunchbull.

Like his colleague Mara, Jimmy left the world of acting and decided to focus on his education.

In 2017, he graduated as a physician from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He said he was drawn to osteopathic medicine because it focuses on “helping the whole patient.”

Speaking about Matilda and acting in an interview with medical publication The Do, he said: “Filming that scene took around three weeks… I had to be on set all day, and I had to wear the same clothes every day. The chocolate was already embedded in this shirt I was wearing.”

“For the sake of continuity, every day I had to have chocolate on my face the way it was painted the day before.

“I hated the smell of chocolate for a few weeks after that. That’s when I realized acting isn’t easy. There’s a lot of skill and professionalism involved.”
