Black Lives Matter protester, Viet Trap arrest and charges

A judge has thrown out a rarely used leak charge against an Iowa Viet Trap who provided a classified police document to a local television reporter.

Trap showed the Des Moines Police Department newsletter to Eva Andersen, an ABC reporter, pictured during an interview that was later televised and went viral.

After the television premiered, he was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison. But now the charge has been dropped.

He was arrested because the documents are not allowed to be displayed publicly. But then Ferrell mentioned that the compositions shown on ABC did not include intelligence.

Data is defined under Iowa law as information collected about individuals to prevent potential criminal activity.

He said the documents only included information about a criminal investigation, “Because the bulletin in question, in this case, is not intelligence, any dissemination of the bulletin is not a crime,” Farrell wrote.

Trap stayed in jail for three weeks before Ferrell mentioned that the data did not include any intelligence that should not be in the public domain.

After much investigation and chaos in court, the judge decided to dismiss the charges Trap was facing.

They pointed out that the protester did not violate the rules, but that the person who stole the documents from the police will be charged with stealing important documents.

Viet Trap was a person who was arrested for doing the right thing, even though he spent three weeks in jail. Protesters came out to support her release.
