CORONATION Street fans were stunned as it looked like the fan favorite was about to turn his back on the cobblestones once and for all.
Viewers watched as Elaine Jones, played by actress Paula Wilcox, bid Weatherfield a fond farewell after finally leaving the evil Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

Fans of the ITV soap watched Elaine realize Stephen’s cunning, resulting in a huge showdown between her overprotective son Tim and the evil factory manager.
After deciding to leave Stephen and walk away from their engagement for good after she couldn’t trust him, Elaine questioned her future.
She seemed to need a change when she told Tim and Sally that she was staying in Scarborough to be away from her ex.
Giving her time to recover, Elaine wasted no time in packing her bag and saying goodbye to the street.
Greeting Sally and Tim, he walked away as Jenny Bradley looked on after learning of the couple’s divorce.
Jenny previously kissed Stephen before he broke up with Elaine, a move motivated to get his money, not love.
Commenting on Elaine’s sudden departure, one fan said, “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so sad to see Elaine go!”
Another added: “If Elaine goes to Scarborough I’d be worried about Tim, especially the state he’s in today.”
