Thirteen departments in the central and south-western regions were placed on amber alert on Friday due to a “very strong storm”, Météo-France said.

the departments involved in these storms from Friday until the end of the day are Allier, Cantal, Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne, Corrèze, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Gers, Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne, Loire, Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dome.

The storms should be accompanied by “intense electrical activity and hail that can be pronounced” and “wind gusts of up to 90-100 km/h, locally 110-120 km/h”, according to Météo-France, which calls for caution.

A consequence of the heat spike

Heavy rain is also expected, up to “30 to 50mm per hour”, Météo-France predicts that the storm will taper off from the south in the early part of Friday night.
